San Diego Contemporary Art Fair Day 1

The 2011 San Diego Contemporary Art Fair kicked off last night at the Hilton Bayfront, adjacent to the San Diego Convention. Clients and friends from around the area gathered to a quality art fair, though “miniaturized” from last year. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as the qualitative efforts of the featured gallery did a solid job in selecting one to 5 artists per booth on average and presenting the breath of their philosophy in an open venue easy to navigate.

My good friends at the Mindy Solomon Gallery are on hand with a high-quality grouping of contemporaries featuring: Sungyee Kim, James Kennedy, Kang Hyo Lee, Josh DeWeeseand Wanxin Zhang.

The wine tasting reception was a nice touch to unite art collectors from the north of San Diego, and many local luminaries and artists were on hand, live painting by local favorite Mike Maxwell and glass sculpting duo of the de la Torre brothers.

More on the fair and results soon. Enjoy the holiday weekend.
