BiDiPi #20 Features Cartoon Network Exhibit

Cartoon Network’s exhibition at the Jett Gallery was recently packed up, and has been picked up by BiDiPi, episode No. 20, featuring all things creative on YouTube. Kind thanks to BiDiPi for creating a blog reading frenzy over 7000 readers in one hour. Super great and a wonderful promotion for more than 75 world-class artists who participated in Cartoon Network 20th Birthday Exhibition curated by Mark Murphy. Comic-Con Booth 4833

Once a year Murphy Design exhibits at Booth 4833 on the Comic-Con floor. This year you can find us celebrating all things “CREATIVE” with original art pieces, zines, books, prints and hard-to-find collectibles. And besides your good pals, Mark Todd, Esther Pearl Watson and Mark Murphy will be there to say hey and catch up. It’s been a short year and we are looking forward to seeing you Wednesday, July 11 through Sunday, July 15 at Comic-Con.

Murphy Books at Comic-Con Booth 4833

Comic-Con San Diego is where it’s at and Murphy Design, located at Booth 4833, will be delivering creative books, movies, t-shirts and signed collectibles. We will be sharing a booth with fine artists Mark Todd and Esther Pearl Watson, premiering a new 20th Birthday Celebration Art Exhibit for Cartoon Network and showcasing new artist originals.

Visit Murphy Books at Booth 4833 and check out the brand new mini exhibition catalog created for fine artist, Martin Wittfooth. This 36 page, 5x7" and full-color production showcases 29 oil paintings and original photography in a inspired volume titled, “Martin Wittfooth Painting Collection—Zóion Mythology No. 1.”

Martin Wittfooth is a Brooklyn based painter who draws upon industrial and natural elements, often displaying masterful intersections that violently clash on the canvas. Martin’s work implores the viewer to question the status quo, challenge what we take for granted, and proceed with caution on one’s daily course. In other words, “Martin Wittfooth mangles the beauty of nature with the abandoned cityscape left behind by humankind.”

Cartoon Network Gallery and Exhibition July 11—14

Cartoon Network’s 20th Anniversary exhibition will be featured at the Jett Gallery in the heart of Little Italy during the festivities around San Diego and during Comic-Con July 11—14. (Above, Brecht Vandenbroucke).

Save your date, as their will be daily exhibition hours at Jett Gallery, located at 989 W. Kalmia Street, San Diego and will be open Wednesday, July 11 through Saturday, July 14. Gallery hours will be available Wednesday through Saturday and is open to the public and free of charge each day. Posted hours include: WED, Thursday and Friday — 11AM to 5PM and extended hours on Saturday — 11AM to 8PM. (Above, John Hendrix).

Over seventy-five world-class artists have been assembled to take a close look at all of their cartoon heroes assembled from the times of Hanna-Barbera over the past 20 illustrative years of Cartoon Network. Yes, that’s right a 20th Birthday Celebration for the good folks of Cartoon Network. (Above, Marc Bell).

It will be an adventure, and speaking of which, each artist has been paired up with a cartoon or character to freely interpretate. The proof will be on the walls and the good times will be rocking, as great people gather from around the world to celebrate a 20th year good time. Check out more work in progress here. Cartoon Network Originals in Progress

Cartoon Network’s 20th Anniversary premieres at this year’s Comic-Con held in San Diego, July 12—15. A new mini magazine is in progress, design will feature studios, drawings and doodles by 75 world-class artists paired up with one classic Cartoon Network animated show and the creation of a mindful representation of something great. This is a huge honor, and all of the featured artists are creating something spectacular. Raymond Verdaguer Delivers for Cartoon Network's 20th Anniversary Exhibition

Genndy Tartakovsky’s visions of samurai warriors lead him down the path of animated greatness with the animated cartoon Samurai Jack. 2001-2004 Was a great run for this stylized gem and provides a wonderful accolade for the Cartoon Network to celebrate July 12—15 during San Diego’s Comic-Con convention.

In fact, over 75 artists have been paired up with other Cartoon Network classics in celebration of their 20th Anniversary. French-born linoleum cut artist, Raymond Verdaguer, has recently created a new work for Cartoon Network’s celebration, entitled Hydrapinion 1. Hydrapinion 1 addresses evil often faced in episodes of Samurai Jack. Raymond’s final piece is all about the the fabrication of machines turned against humankind in an effort to thwart Samurai Jack’s good nature on the path to enlightenment.

Seventy-five fine artists from around the globe are creating inspired works to be premiered during San Diego’s Comic Con, July 12—15, 2012. The location will be announced soon, but in the meantime, check out some of the original artwork created for the twenty years of animated goodness by the talented folks of Cartoon Network.

Fine Artist Karen Barbour

Inverness, California artist Karen Barbour paints a rich narrative that introduces a world comprised of dreamlike shapes and color assembled edge to edge. (Top Right Green Mushroom House—In Progress).

At first sight, Karen’s compositions appear dense, leaving no space between background and foreground, often layering her subjects hidden within the illustrative texture. Karen’s language might be described as dreamy, poetic, conversational and thoughtful. Organic shapes dance, as the landscape is revealed with thoughtful sensitivity to relationships visually exchanged between protagonists.

Karen Barbour is one of the featured artists in the upcoming Cartoon Network 20^th Anniversary Art Exhibition premiering during Comic-Con in San Diego July 12—15, 2012. (Candy Castle (L), Windows, Balloons, etc. (R)).

Power Puff Girls +Cartoon Network 20th Anniversary

Santa Fe based fine artist Joel Nakamura recently completed a new work on tin for the upcoming celebration of Cartoon Network’s 20th Year Celebration. Colorfully animated, Professor Utonium’s “sugar...spice...and everything nice” super trio—Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup—swim in defense of all that is good against Joel Nakamura’s musings. In fact, 74 additional artists are currently creating a dynamic assortment of imaginative pieces to compliment a new Cartoon Network 20th Anniversary Exhibition to be premiered in San Diego during Comic-Con July 12—15. (Below, Emile Morel, Problem Solverz).

Craig McCracken’s vision of the Power Puff Girls will be realized by a handful of other artists while all of the artists have been matched up with Cartoon Network’s greatest hits of cartoons over the years. Additional shows include: Adventure Time, Ben 10, Billy & Mandy, Dexter’s Laboratory, Fosters, Regular Show, Samurai Jack and Sym-Biotic Titan. (Below, Nick Sheehy, Sym-Biotic Titan).

All of the artists featured in this exhibition are exceptional and each artist brings an amazing perspective while applying their creative spin on each show. Cartoon Network Sketches

Cartoon Network has teamed up with curator and art promoter Mark Murphy and seventy-five world-class artists to celebrate 20 years of animated cartoons. Unveiled at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, Cartoon Network”s 20th Anniversary exhibition will feature a promotional zine showcasing the studios, sketches and one-of-a-kind originals created by the featured artists.
